Chris Walker is an independent research consultant specializing in community and economic development policies and programs. From 2005 through October 2017, he was Director of Research and Assessment for the Local Initiatives Support Corporation. While in that position, he was responsible for assembling, conducting, sponsoring, and disseminating research on community development’s contributions to the well-being of individuals, families and communities. He also supported the housing and community development research activities of LISC local programs throughout the United States.
Prior to joining LISC in late 2005, Mr. Walker led a community and economic development research program at the Urban Institute in Washington, DC, where for 19 years, he conducted national studies of federal- and foundation-funded affordable housing, community lending, arts and culture, and other community development topics.
