Kathy Flanagan-Payton is President and CEO for the Fifth Ward Community Redevelopment Corporation where she oversees the implementation of the Comprehensive Community Revitalization of Houston’ Historic 5th Ward. She leads a diverse 15-member board in implementing and maintaining their major lines of business — commercial and residential real estate development, individual development, supportive services, asset management, and resource development. NeighborWorks America named Kathy Flanagan-Payton Community Development Practitioner of 2020.
Kathy's current professional and civic engagement includes : Chair of NeighborWorks Alliance Texas, TIRZ 18 Board Member, Livable Cities and Complete Communities Advisory Council – City of Houston, member of the Urban Land Institute, member Texas Association of CDC’s, member of J.P. Morgan Chase Community and Allegiance Bank Advisory Boards, and City of Houston Food Insecurities Board. Current awardee and participating in the Neighborhood Builders - Bank of America Program, and nominee for the 53rd NAACP Image Awards as Executive Producer in the category of short documentary for “Memory Builds the Monument”.
